Costs

Adults

For adults (18 years and older) treatment by a psychiatrists falls under specialized mental health care (SGGZ) and is covered by basic Dutch health insurance. SGGZ treatment falls under the so called ‘Zorgprestatiemodel’ (ZPM). The total costs of the treatment depend on the nature and complexity of the treatment. The rates are determined by the Dutch Healthcare Authority and can be found here.

KSP does not have any contracts with Dutch health insurance agencies. It depends on your insurance plan how much of the costs are covered. With a basic insurance plan, usually around 70% of the costs are covered. Most international health insurances (Cigna, JSIS, Allianz) do fully cover the costs of the treatment. It is recommended to contact your health insurance agency prior to starting the treatment, to check exactly how much of the costs they cover.

In order to get reimbursed you need a valid referral note and a DSM-5 diagnosis needs to be set.A valid referral note states a referral to the SGGZ, the presumed DSM-5 diagnosis and the referrer’s name and AGB Code.

Children and adolescents

For children and adolescents (younger than 18 years) the hourly rate is €184.-.  Specialized mental health care (SGGZ) is covered by the municipality.

KSP does not have any contracts with Dutch municipalities. Unless you have obtained a PGB (Persoonsgebonden Budget, personal budget) from the municipality, this means you have to pay out of pocket. It is advised to contact your municipality prior to the treatment, to check whether you can apply for reimbursement.

In order to get reimbursed by the municipality you need a valid referral note and a DSM-5 diagnosis needs to be set. A valid referral note states a referral to the SGGZ, the presumed DSM-5 diagnosis and the referrer’s AGB Code.

Most international health insurances do also (fully) cover the costs for children and adolescents under the age of 18. It is recommended to check this with your health insurance prior to starting the treatment.

Cancellation policy

If an appointment isn’t cancelled at least 24 hours in advance , you will be charged for a ‘no show’.  This will not be reimbursed by the health insurance or municipality.
